Patient Complaint: Neck Injury

“I first came to the Raya Clinic in the beginning of May. I had injured my neck while playing soccer and I could not turn my head to the right. My whole neck was extremely sore. I started looking through the phone book and came across the ad for the Raya Clinic. I decided to give chiropractic a try.

Patient Complaint: Insomnia, Headaches, and Heat

“When did you first come to this office?
The end of September.
What was your particular condition? When did it begin? How long have you had it? What caused it? How severe was it?
I had severe heat, insomnia and headaches. This started in March with insomnia and progressed to headaches and extreme heat. I believed at the time it was caused by menopause. It became very severe and inhibited me from my daily life.
Were you ever treated by any physicians or another Chiropractor?
My gyno gave me HRT-estrogen and progesterone in June. The headaches increased to daily and my heat remained. AT first, I though my body needed to adjust to the medication. My doctor advised there are no quick fixes and to stay on this for 3 months before an evaluation could be made. This did not sit well with me. I felt terrible. I turned to my general doctor. He was concerned with my severe symptoms and advised me to go off HRT. At that time he prescribed sleeping pills for the insomnia, tranquilizers for the anxiety and heat. The sleeping pill did give me 4 - 5 hours of sleep but I needed to take them every night. The heat still continued with many days of being in heat for 6 or 7 hours at a time. I knew I had to seek further assistance, so I went to a homeopath. She gave me many soy products that actually made me worse. I had heat, itchy eyes, and a headache.
Who referred you or how did you find out about this office?
I was speaking to a friend of mine at work about my symptoms. She recommended this office because she had experienced similar symptoms and had great success.
What results have you had?
I was given a saliva test and the results confirmed that I had very high levels of estrogen and progesterone. I was given Lyrotret to cleanse my liver, advised to drink lots of water and to stop HRT and all soy products. I had an acupuncture treatment and after two weeks my heat has disappeared. My insomnia is also much better. Many nights, I sleep without interruption. I have also had a hair analysis that confirmed my minerals and vitamins were either high or very low. With the right supplements, I will eventually get my body balanced to normal levels. I am feeling much better, thanks to Dr. Raya's holistic and natural approach to treating my types of symptoms. Patient Complaint: Back Pain

“I came to the Raya Clinic 15 years ago to seek chiropractic help for my back problems, and I subsequently experienced relief from the pain. This successful experience prompted me to seek assistance for my wife Nancy, who had a chronic cough that persisted for several years. Despite the efforts of several physicians and a specialist at the Boston General Hospital, the cough persisted. I then thought I had nothing to lose by seeking chiropractic treatment for her with Dr. Raya. After receiving five treatments, the cough was gone. Shortly thereafter, Nancy was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, and she was unable to continue with the chiropractic maintenance care treatments. I was also not able to continue with the treatments because my work obligations as president of Briarwood College, along with the responsibilities of care giving, were demanding.

During the aforementioned time period, my spine continued to degenerate and I developed severe arthritis and stenosis. This condition caused severe lower back pain that progressively worsened over the last two years. The pain traveled to my legs and became so bad that I was unable to work or perform the activities of daily living. I sought the opinion of a neurosurgeon who gave me no chance of recovery, and an orthopedic surgeon who said surgery would give me a less than 50% chance of relief because the condition was too far gone.

Upon Dr. Raya's recommendation, I started treatment on the SpineMed table at the end of August 2007. I began feeling the results the first week. At the end of the third week of treatment, I experienced my first pain-free period. I was then able to travel in my car and accomplish daily tasks.
