Patient Complaint: Neck, Back, and Feet Pain

“When I first decided to go to the Raya Clinic early this year I was in constant neck, back, and feet pain for a long time. Immediately, I discovered that it would be necessary for me to visit the office three times a week. I wondered if I would ever find the time necessary to follow through on my appointments since I am mom to eighteen adopted kids. Life is extremely busy for me and every day is most challenging.

Within a short time I found my pain decreasing in all areas and made a commitment to stay with my visits. Over the next several months I not only got better but found that I could return to a more normal daily activity schedule even though I am in my early sixties.

Additionally, I nervously signed up for their Detox Program in order to get rid of many internal problems I was experiencing and also to lose weight. Gratefully, I lost thirty-five pounds which have stayed off and I feel so much better physically. I am able to walk better, sleep better, and even exercise again.

It is exciting for me to have found a chiropractic group that treats us holistically. I am confident that I will continue with the Raya Clinic even though I am sure that there will be more challenges ahead. I know that I will experience my overall physical and emotional health improving every single day.

Thank you to all at the Raya Clinic.”

Patient Complaint: Herniated Disc

“I'm so pleased to tell you about my experience with the Raya Clinic. Dr. Raya and her staff have helped me tremendously over the past nine months. Their combined knowledge and experience and their comprehensive approach to wellness healed my back and made me feel like myself again.

One month after a fall, I was still in a great deal of pain. I went to my chiropractor who had helped me very much over the years for other issues, but could not help with this one. There was still constant shooting pain down the back of my right leg which I could only describe as a lightning bolt. My foot was still numb. I couldn't lift, bend, twist, or sit for any length of time, so normal activities were impossible. Driving and sitting in the car were very painful. I couldn't lift anything, which meant I needed assistance with every household chore, including laundry, groceries, cleaning, making beds, vacuuming, even pouring milk. I couldn't bend or squat, so I couldn't pick up anything that fell to the floor or tie my shoes. Pain interrupted my sleep every night. Prior to my injury, I walked five days a week and did Pilates. Those were completely out of the question.

The worst part of this was that I couldn't do what I used to do with my two children. I couldn't play outside with them, couldn't kick a soccer ball, couldn't run, skate, make a snowman, dance, or sit on my daughter's bed to read her a story. I couldn't even sit at the table long enough to play a board game. It was pathetic, and I was sad and worried.

I did research to learn about treatment options for herniated discs, and spoke with people about surgery, traction, and physical therapy. Then I read studies on Spine Med. My chiropractor agreed that this was the best option, so I started working with Dr. Raya.

Eight months after my injury, I have no nerve pain. My herniated disc is better. I feel like a walking miracle. The worst of my ordeal was short-lived, thank God. But it was bad, and I was petrified that it would stay like that permanently. Dr. Raya and her staff gave me my life back, and I am forever grateful to them for the gift of wellness. ”

Patient Complaint: Chest Pain

When did you first come to the Raya Clinic and what brought you in to seek help?
I came to the Raya Clinic because I was having chest pains.
What else had you tried before visiting the Raya Clinic (i.e., other physicians, physical therapists, chiropractors, etc.) and what were the results?
I went to the hospital and had a battery of tests (CAT scan, stress test, etc.). The hospital ruled out any internal organ issue and indicated that it must be muscular-skeletal.
Describe your successes since beginning care at the Raya Clinic.
I have been going to the Raya Clinic for about a year. My chest pains went away pretty much immediately. I also do not have sinus infections (was getting them several times a year), am not getting sick anywhere near as often, am sleeping much better, have more energy, and have lost 30 pounds. I now understand how connected the spine is to everything your body does. It makes a lot of sense. I feel as if I am not only improving my current health but also preventing many future problems as well.
How has this changed your life?
I have a whole new outlook on health. I always thought of a doctor as someone you go to when you are sick. They prescribe medicine for your issue and you go on your way. The doctors at the Raya Clinic don't just look at your current issue. They try to understand everything about your daily routines (including exercise, sleeping and eating habits) and all your symptoms by asking comprehensive questions. They really listen to me and make suggestions to improve my entire wellbeing.”

Patient Complaint: Neck, Shoulder, and Lower Back Pain

“I first came to the Raya Clinic in February 2009 due to neck, shoulder, and lower back pain. Prior to chiropractic care I would usually take pain medication to assist with alleviating the pain. This was of course temporary and usually only masked the true issue.

Since beginning my treatment, I have not suffered from severe shoulder or neck pain and my lower back feels great. At my last physical, my primary physician had to re-measure my height because I now stand a whole inch taller! I have been able to carry out my responsibilities both at home and at work without the interference of pain.

Treatment has improved the overall quality of my sleep and my attitude. I no longer begin to feel pain swelling in my shoulders or back which would cause additional stress both at home and at work. Most importantly, I feel great knowing that I do not require a medicine to alleviate symptoms.”

Patient Complaint: Spinal Stenosis and Chronic Sciatic Pain

“I first came to the Raya Clinic in September of 2008. For five years I had suffered from spinal stenosis and chronic sciatic pain. My family doctor treated me with a series of steroids, which helped me for about a month; then pain returned as bad as ever. I couldn't get up in the morning without going through at least 45 minutes of pain and stiffness before I could stand up straight or bend down. After two Tylenol and two Aleve I could go through the day in moderate pain until at least 3:00 pm, and then my back and my sciatic pain (the worst) would come creeping pain. By dinnertime I had all I could do to clean up dishes and crawl (I mean crawl) upstairs and flop in a chair until bedtime. If I had to go anywhere on a trip or vacation I had to dose myself with steroids in order to be able to function.

I then decided to go to a neurosurgeon that looked at my MRI and quickly determined that I would need surgery. Surgery! I think not. My next step was an orthopedic surgeon who agreed with the neurosurgeon but said he would try an epidural. I had a series of two. The first one lasted about a month and the second one about two weeks. I was at a loss and figured by this time next year I would be in a wheelchair.

I was watching the Olympics on TV and saw an advertisement for the SpineMed at the Raya Clinic. The advertisement offered a free consultation. I thought, "What have I got to lose?" I called for an appointment at the Raya Clinic. Dr. Raya explained my problem in a way no other doctor had and told me what the SpineMed would do for my back, how it would stretch out the vertebra and allow the fluid and nutrients around my spine to form a cushion to relieve the pain. Two words shouted at me: relieve pain.

SpineMed is not inexpensive and unfortunately insurance does not pay for it, but the relief and mobility gained from SpineMed is worth every penny. It was a great commitment as you have to go every day for twenty days. I remember the first time I went they asked how I felt, my answer was "I feel like I was hit by a bus," but about the third or fourth session I was about 50% pain free. I am now finished with SpineMed and am 95% better. I could not have asked for anything more. I am more mobile than I have been in years and am able to live the life I want to live. Thank you SpineMed, Dr. Raya, and the Raya Clinic. ”
